Little History

According to one theory, the Tarot originated in ancient Egypt - the cards were a representation of the lost Egyptian Book of the Dead. ( it is not a book but that’s a different story) Another theory suggests that Tarot cards originated from magical numbered decks that existed in India and the Far East thousands of years ago. While other historians believe the Tarot was a simple card game called tarocchi or tarocchino found between 1430 and 1450 in northern Italy, Tarot cards first appeared in Milan, Ferrara, and Bologna, perhaps as additional trump cards with allegorical illustrations were added to the four-suit standard pack of playing cards. These new decks were originally called carte da trionfi, triumph cards.

The only thing we can say for certainty about the origin of Tarot is we don’t know. it is pure conjecture.
