Symbolism

Triskele or Triskelion is a symbol from Celtic culture. Modern-day we think of Celtic as Ireland, Scotland, Wales and southwest of England Cornwall which isn’t entirely true. Celtic groups of pagan people spanned from the Iberian Peninsula west Europe (Portugal) to east Asia Minor (Turkey) Celtic culture dates back to the Prehistoric Times. Triskele/Triskelion is represented as the Triple Spiral this symbol can be presented as three arms, three sevens or as three legs. Triskeles comes from a Greek word meaning three legs. Christians adopted the symbol and it gained popularity with the Irish Celtic in 500BC. From this, I believe the original meaning of this symbol has been superseded. Still in this modern day the symbol of the Triskele or Triskelion fascinate researchers and is not yet fully understood, Twenty-first century there are a few meanings, the Triskele thought to represent motion positioned to make it appear as if it is moving outwards from its centre:- creation-protection-destruction, life-birth-rebirth, action, cycles, progress, mind-body-spirit, past-present-future, earth-water-air.
